A poem entitled Sweet Nothings

Sweet Nothings

That taste that you craveangel kiss

Even when your entire being screams

Beware

And those intrusive thoughts

That make sleep a dream

Expectations

Waiting

Wanting

Perilous in their addiction

Crushing when nothing can live up to them

Rapture when they exceed our reverie

They are secrets we tell ourselves

Secrets that we cannot keep

They are promises broken and kept

But the agony comes

When we can accept

Nothing less

I wish to kiss those lips

And feel my whole soul

Shimmer with delight

I desire the possibility

I yearn to feel the light

That will fill my eyes

When expectation

Is realized

Hazard

Risk

Threat

Disappointment like death

Oh the prospect of expectations kiss

Curse the question

Is it worth it?
