Dead Language

I used to speak a language

A pattern of apologies

Until it became so common

It was meaningless

I was never searching for

A possible forgiveness

Only permission to exist

My voice was small

My existence a privilege

Given by those who easily denied

But now

My words are chosen

Now my repentance

Is only for my own downfalls

And not the simple truth

I will love with every molecule

I will break promises and hearts

Like glass

I will fail with utter abandon

And I will speak with the loudest voice

Intentional

Sincere

And I will exist without vindication

Knowing with every step I take

I am becoming myself
